Located on Seven Seas Lagoon with direct monorail access to Magic Kingdom (board right in the lobby). Most romantic atmosphere at WDW. Victoria & Albert's restaurant ($295+/person) holds AAA's Timeless Diamond designation — one of only a handful of restaurants in the country with this honor.

Room types: Standard rooms, suites, bungalows on the lagoon, and Grand Floridian Society rooms with fireplaces. Club Level (Royal Palm Club) offers private lounge with hourly food and beverage service.

Best for: Anniversary trips, bucket list vacations, proposal planning. Monorail access means never renting a car.

$600–$1,400+/night · Club Level $800–$2,000+

Hidden gem: Boat to Magic Kingdom is underrated. Scenic ride beats monorail crowds, and Walking path available if you prefer.

$548–$887/night · Club Level $750–$1,200+

Deluxe Resorts — EPCOT & Hollywood Studios Area

Walking distance or Skyliner access to two parks.

⭐ Beth's Resort Gem
🌍 Deluxe · Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom Lodge

THE most immersive Disney resort. Watch 30+ real wildlife species — giraffes, zebras, kudu, antelope, ostriches, flamingos — from your balcony. Boma & Jiko restaurants offer African-inspired cuisine. Kilimanjaro Club Concierge Level is the best Club Level at WDW. Savanna view rooms are mandatory — worth the $100-150 premium.

Dining: Boma (African buffet, character breakfast), Jiko (sushi, Asian fusion, wine bar), Pongu Lumba quick service. Many consider AKL the best on-property dining — rivals Grand Floridian.

Kilimanjaro Club: Dedicated concierge, private lounge, five daily food & beverage services (breakfast, lunch, snacks, wine & cheese, dessert). Often pays for itself in meals.

$450–$900/night standard · $575–$1,000 savanna view · Club Level $800–$1,500+

🏖️ Deluxe · EPCOT & DHS

Beach Club Resort

New England coastal resort with Stormalong Bay — WDW's best pool: 3-acre sand-bottom lagoon, 230-foot waterslide, zero-entry lazy river. Walks directly to EPCOT International Gateway (10 min) and Disney Springs. Yachtsman Steakhouse and Cape May Café on property. If you'll spend significant time poolside, this is the resort.

Best feature: Walking distance to two parks saves hours of transportation. Skip buses entirely. 10-minute morning walk to Epcot = staying in parks longer.

Pool lovers: Stormalong Bay unmatched. Plan entire days around it.

$520–$950/night

⛵ Deluxe · EPCOT & DHS

Yacht Club Resort

Yacht club theme — more formal than Beach Club with nautical sophistication. Shares Stormalong Bay with Beach Club. Trattoria al Forno restaurant. Walking distance to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Quieter, more adult atmosphere. Same pool access but slightly different aesthetic.

$520–$950/night

🎨 Deluxe · Skyliner

Riviera Resort

European Riviera theming — newest DVC resort (opened December 2019). Topolino's Terrace rooftop restaurant with character dining. Skyliner to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Modern, upscale atmosphere. Brand-new facilities with contemporary design.

Skyliner advantage: Fast transportation, no bus waiting. Rooftop bar with evening aperitivo service. Weather-independent vs. boats.

$538–$970/night

Best Value & Moderate: Skyliner Transportation Hub

Cable car access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Game-changer for families.

⭐ Beth's Value Pick
🎨 Value · Skyliner Hub

Art of Animation Resort

Best value resort at WDW. Two sections: standard rooms AND spacious family suites sleeping 6 (~$519–900+/night — significantly more than two standard Value rooms but includes kitchen and sleeping 6). Finding Nemo pool complex with Big Blue Pool (largest at WDW). Themed wings: Cars, Lion King, Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo. Skyliner to EPCOT (~15 min via Caribbean Beach hub) and Hollywood Studios (~5 min via Caribbean Beach).

Family suites: Two bedrooms, kitchenette, two bathrooms — far more comfortable than a standard room at similar cost to a Moderate. Sleeps 6 = massive value for larger families.

Connected to Pop Century: Pedestrian bridge connects both resorts for convenient exploration.

$170–$280/night standard · $519–$900+ family suite (sleeps 6)

✨ Value · Skyliner Station

Pop Century Resort

Most popular Value resort — best Skyliner location at the station. Retro Americana theming with decade-by-decade design (1950s-1990s). Smaller rooms than Art of Animation but superior transportation value. Bowling alley, arcade, retro theming throughout. Connected to Art of Animation via bridge.

Transit times: Caribbean Beach hub ~3 min, then Hollywood Studios ~5 min total / EPCOT ~15 min total. Faster than monorail from Contemporary for HS — no lines, weather-independent.

Early Theme Park Entry: Value resort gets 30 minutes early entry like all on-site guests. Money hack for budget travelers wanting early entry advantage.

$215–$296/night

🌴 Moderate · Skyliner Hub

Caribbean Beach Resort

Best Moderate for transportation. Skyliner hub — Hollywood Studios ~5 min, EPCOT ~15 min. Multiple Caribbean themed villages across 45 acres. Tropical atmosphere. Old Port Royale food court. Boat to Disney Springs. Completely renovated in recent years with modern amenities.

Layout tip: Request village near Skyliner station or you'll walk 15+ minutes. Location matters. Riviera station is closest.

Value: Skyliner access + Moderate amenities + tropical theming justify pricing over Value resorts with buses.

$240–$340/night

$150–$220/night

⚽ Value · Bus Only

2026 Note: Surfboard Bay Pool and kiddie pool closed Jan–April. Use Movies or Music pools.

$150–$220/night

💎 Hidden Gem Resorts & Strategic Picks
  • Wilderness Lodge: Underrated deluxe gem. Better architecture than Grand Floridian. Boats to MK are faster than you think. Save $300/night.
  • Port Orleans Riverside: Moderate with moderate pricing but authentic Southern charm. Boat transportation to Epcot + less youth group traffic than All-Stars.
  • Coronado Springs Gran Destino: New luxury tower. Deluxe-quality pool, rooftop bar, active nightlife. Club Level worth it here.
🚫 Resorts to Avoid or Be Cautious
  • All-Star Sports (Jan-April 2026): Pool closure during spring break — major inconvenience. Choose Movies or Music instead.
  • Bay Lake Tower (Contemporary): Extended refurbishment. Verify status and potential construction noise.
  • Grand Floridian: Overpriced for room quality. Better deluxe options available at lower cost (Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom).
  • Caribbean Beach: Sprawling layout. Skyliner proximity varies. Request building near station or you'll walk 15+ minutes daily.
⏰ Extended Evening Hours (Deluxe Only) — Strategy Guide

What it is: Deluxe guests enter select parks 2 hours early OR stay up to 2 hours after closing. Schedules rotate daily across four parks.

  • Which resorts qualify: ALL Deluxe (Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Contemporary, Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Riviera), plus Fort Wilderness cabins
  • NOT included: Value, Moderate resorts, Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower (EXCEPTION: this one gets it)
  • Real value: Early entry prevents rope-drop stampedes. Worth $100-150 in saved Lightning Lane purchases.
  • Strategy tip: Use early entry for high-capacity attractions (Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion) that benefit from short queues, not character meets or dining that happen regardless of crowds.
  • Schedule varies: Check My Disney Experience daily. Typical pattern: 3-5 parks per week get early entry.
🚡 Transportation Comparison by Resort Type

Monorail (Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary): Fastest to Magic Kingdom (8-12 min walk). Prestige factor. Included with stay. Lines during peak times.

Skyliner (Pop, AoA, Caribbean, Riviera): Hollywood Studios ~5 min from Caribbean Beach; EPCOT ~15 min via Caribbean Beach hub; Riviera direct to EPCOT ~9 min. Reliable, no lines (unless weather closure). 8 AM–1 AM operation. Scenic cable car experience.

Boat (Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Beach Club, BoardWalk, Port Orleans): 10-15 min scenic rides. Relaxing alternative. Weather-dependent. Excellent for Magic Kingdom access.

Bus (All-Stars, Values without Skyliner, All Moderates): 15-30 min peak times. Last option. 1-2 AM final buses. Crowded returns from parks.

Walking (Beach Club to Epcot 10 min, Yacht Club to Epcot 10 min, Contemporary to MK 15 min): Best for resort time. Skip transportation crowds entirely.

⭐ Beth's WDW Resort Philosophy

The biggest mistake: choosing based only on nightly rate without accounting for what the resort unlocks. A $500 Animal Kingdom Lodge savanna room IS a full nature experience. A $240 Caribbean Beach saves money while giving Skyliner to 2 parks AND faster transit than Deluxe. A $220 Art of Animation family suite sleeps 6 more comfortably than a $550 Moderate.

Real vacation killers: 11 PM bus waits from Magic Kingdom. Stay onsite. Choose transportation proximity over room size. Skyliner resorts save 10+ hours over 5 days. Extended Evening Hours on Deluxe actually prevents crowds.

Value hierarchy: Wilderness Lodge > Animal Kingdom Lodge > Beach Club > Coronado Springs > Caribbean Beach > Art of Animation > Pop Century > All-Stars.

🏅 Club Level Services at Deluxe Resorts
  • What's included: Private lounge, dedicated concierge, all-day food & beverage (breakfast, lunch, snacks, wine & cheese, desserts)
  • Available at: Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach/Yacht Club, Contemporary, BoardWalk, Riviera
  • Food value: Typically $80-120/day in meals per family of 4. Over 7 nights, offsets $560-840 in dining costs. Can pay for itself.
  • Cost premium: $200–$400/night above standard Deluxe. 7+ night stays justify the premium financially.
  • Best Club Level value: Coronado Springs Gran Destino (moderate tier with Club option) or Animal Kingdom Lodge (Kilimanjaro Club).
  • IPO service: Itinerary Planning Office pre-books dining and activities. Call (407) WDW-CLUB (939-2585) before arrival.
🚡 Early Theme Park Entry Tips

What: All on-property guests enter 30 minutes before official park opening.

Real value: Worth $50-100 in saved Lightning Lane purchases. Beat crowds to rope-drop attractions.

Strategy: Head straight to ONE high-capacity attraction (Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Jungle Cruise). Ride once, then use normal wait times. Skip character meets (they happen all day).

Deluxe bonus: If you have Extended Evening Hours on the same day, you effectively get 4 extra hours for one park. Massive advantage.
