DAS Pass — Complete Guide
DAS allows guests with developmental disabilities to return to an attraction at a later time rather than waiting in a standard queue. Policy changed significantly in 2024 — here's everything clients need to know before they travel.
Walt Disney World — DAS
Registration is video chat only at WDW — in-person Guest Relations registration is no longer available. Chat through the MyDisneyExperience app or at DisneyWorld.com/DAS. The qualifying guest must be present on the call. Pre-registration opens 60 days before arrival (extended from 30 days in February 2025); day-of registration is also available via live video chat.
Developmental disabilities including autism, and similar conditions. No official diagnosis documentation is required — guests self-attest during the video chat. Cast Members are trained to redirect mobility, medical, and physical limitation cases to alternative accommodations. Approval is not guaranteed.
Request a DAS return time at any attraction, Guest Relations kiosk, or via the MDE app. Return at the assigned time using the Lightning Lane entrance. You can hold one DAS return time at a time. DAS holders can also pre-book 2 DAS Advance experiences per day during the video chat registration.
Rider Switch (Rider Swap) allows the waiting adult to ride after the first group. Both groups must each have their own Lightning Lane pass — you cannot share one LL pass between the two groups. This is a frequently misunderstood rule that can cause day-of frustration.
Guests who don't qualify for DAS can request Return-to-Queue at select attractions, use Companion Restrooms throughout all parks, access First Aid (nurses on staff, medication refrigeration), and use designated quiet zones in every park.
DAS is valid for 1 year from approval date (extended May 2025). A class action lawsuit was filed February 2025 over the 2024 eligibility changes. A Disney shareholder resolution to reverse the changes failed in March 2026. Current policy remains in effect.
Disneyland California — DAS
Disneyland still allows in-person DAS registration at City Hall on Main Street (Disneyland Park) or Guest Relations at Disney California Adventure on the day of visit — in addition to video chat pre-registration. This is a meaningful advantage for guests who prefer face-to-face interaction or weren't able to register in advance.
Video chat opens 60 days before arrival — same process as WDW via the Disneyland app. Or register in person on arrival day at City Hall or DCA Guest Relations. Same 1-year validity (post May 2025). Same developmental disability eligibility criteria as WDW.
Disneyland Park and DCA are separate gated parks — DAS return times can be requested at either park. If visiting both parks in a day (Park Hopper), coordinate return times before crossing. The two parks are walking distance apart; no transportation needed between them.
Disney Cruise Line — No DAS
Contact DCL Special Services at least 90 days before sailing for best results. Phone: 1-800-951-3532. Email: SpecialServices@DisneyCruise.com. They handle boarding priority, accessible seating at shows, character meet-and-greet accommodations for guests who cannot stand in line, and equipment needs.
DAS does not transfer to Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay. Accessibility at both islands is managed separately — beach wheelchairs and access mats are available, but must be requested through Special Services or picked up on-island first-come. See the Disney Cruise tab for full island accessibility details.
Disneyland Paris — Dual Card System
DLP operates under EU disability law, not the ADA. Their system uses two separate cards and requires documentation — significantly different from North American parks.
Carte Prioritaire
- For officially recognized disabilities
- Requires government-issued disability documentation
- EU disability card, national disability card, or equivalent
- US guests: SSI paperwork or state disability ID accepted
- Guest + up to 4 companions
- Priority Entrance or return time at most attractions
- Valid for the day; issued day-of at City Hall or Studio Services
Carte Accès Facile
- For conditions affecting ability to wait in standard queues
- Requires signed medical certificate from a licensed physician
- Certificate must be dated within 3 months of visit
- Must state difficulty tolerating standard queues
- No EU disability card required
- Accessible to international visitors with any qualifying condition
- International doctors' certificates accepted
Mobility Accommodations
Disney properties are among the most wheelchair-accessible theme park destinations in the world. Knowing what's available — and what to book in advance — makes all the difference.
Walt Disney World — Mobility
Standard wheelchair: ~$12/day single, ~$18/day double. ECV (Electric Convenience Vehicle): ~$50–65/day — subject to availability, so arrive early or book ahead. ScooterBug is Disney's official ECV partner and can deliver directly to your Disney resort hotel room.
All Disney resort buses are wheelchair accessible. The Monorail and Skyliner gondola are fully accessible — let Cast Members know and they'll hold the vehicle for you. Boat transportation is accessible with ramp boarding, though some larger ferries have limited space for multiple mobility devices.
If a child uses a stroller as a mobility device, request a stroller-as-wheelchair tag at Guest Relations. This allows the stroller to be used in attraction queues instead of parking it at the ride entrance — a huge help for families.
Disney publishes detailed accessibility information for every attraction on DisneyWorld.com. Look for the "Accessibility Information" dropdown on each attraction's page — it lists transfer requirements, queue conditions, and boarding options. Check before you go so there are no surprises.
Companion (family) restrooms with space for a wheelchair and caregiver are available in every park and throughout Disney Springs. Locations are marked on the official park maps in the My Disney Experience app.
Beyond ScooterBug (official Disney partner), Buena Vista Scooter and Apple Scooter serve the WDW area. Third-party providers can be more cost-effective for multi-day rentals. ScooterBug is the only provider permitted to deliver inside the resort.
Disneyland California — Mobility
Wheelchair and ECV rentals are available at the main entrance of both Disneyland Park and DCA. Quantities are limited — arriving early is strongly recommended. Accessibility maps are available at the park entrance or via the Disneyland app.
Disneyland is a significantly more compact resort than WDW — the two parks and Downtown Disney are all walkable. This benefits mobility device users who don't need to navigate a bus system or tram for park-hopping. The Downtown Disney parking structures have accessible parking levels.
The tram from the Toy Story parking lot to the parks is accessible. Let the tram attendant know and they'll assist with boarding. The Mickey & Friends parking structure has accessible parking on all levels with elevator access.

Sensory Accommodations
Disney has invested significantly in sensory-friendly programming and resources. Official sensory guides, quiet areas, noise-canceling headphones, and — new at DLP — vibrating vests make Disney increasingly accessible for neurodivergent guests.
Official Sensory Guides
Disney publishes official Sensory Experience Guides for all major parks — available as PDF downloads on each park's accessibility page and as physical copies at Guest Relations. The 2024 update covers 11 sensory categories:
Loud/unexpected sounds · Bright or flashing lights · Sudden darkness · Character physical contact · Smoke/fog effects · Spinning/motion · Heights/open spaces · Water spray/mist · Intense smells · Tight/enclosed spaces · Waiting/unpredictability
Available for: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Disneyland Park, DCA, and Disneyland Paris
Available to borrow at no charge from Guest Relations at all four WDW parks. Also available at select Disneyland locations. Supply is limited — bring your own as a backup. KidKind and Macks brand headphones are popular with Disney families for fit and noise reduction level.

🆕 DLP Vibrating Vests — Full Details
Vibrating vests synchronize tactile feedback with live stage shows only — specifically TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure and The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands. Originally developed for deaf and hard-of-hearing guests, they're also popular with sensory-seeking guests who want deeper immersion in these live performances.
Available at no charge from Guest Services at both Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World. A deposit (passport or government ID held) is required; returned when the vest is returned at end of day. Quantities are limited — request at park opening for best availability.
The vests are designed for live stage shows only: TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure and The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands. These two performances offer the strongest and most immersive tactile experience with the vest technology.
Hearing & Visual Impairments
Disney offers a comprehensive suite of hearing and visual accommodation devices across all parks — most at no additional cost with a refundable deposit. Plan ahead so devices are reserved for your visit.
Hearing Accommodations
Available at Guest Relations at all WDW and Disneyland parks. $25 refundable deposit. Compatible with select attractions and theater shows. Devices sync with on-board hearing loops at equipped attractions. A list of compatible experiences comes with the device.
Available at Guest Relations at all WDW and Disneyland parks. $25 refundable deposit. Displays real-time captions synced to attraction dialogue and narration. Best for guests with hearing loss who prefer text over amplified audio. Works at select attractions.
Available at select theater-style attractions — captions are displayed on a reflective panel visible from the seating area. Ask at the specific attraction or Guest Relations for current locations. No deposit required for reflective captioning panels.
Disney maintains a rotating schedule of ASL-interpreted performances at WDW — primarily nighttime shows and EPCOT experiences. Guests can also request interpretation for specific performances by contacting Guest Services in advance. Not guaranteed but Disney makes best-effort accommodations.
Disney Wish, Treasure, and Destiny feature high-fidelity induction hearing loops in main show lounges — a significant upgrade from earlier ships. All accessible staterooms on all ships include TTY phones, visual/vibrating alarm systems, and closed-captioned televisions.
French Sign Language (LSF) interpretation is available for select DLP shows on specific dates — check the DLP accessibility calendar when planning. Vibrating vests (launched December 2025) provide a tactile supplement to live stage shows only (TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure and The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands). Available free from Guest Services.
Visual Accommodations
Handheld devices provide narrated audio description at select attractions — describing visual elements, settings, and action. Available at no charge from Guest Relations at all four WDW parks and both Disneyland parks. $25 refundable deposit. A list of compatible experiences is included.
Available at Guest Relations at all Disney parks (WDW, DL, DLP). Request at the park entrance on day of visit or call ahead to confirm availability. Tactile maps help low-vision guests orient within park areas before exploring on foot.
Accepted at all Disney parks worldwide and on all DCL ships. Relief areas are marked on Guest Relations park maps. WDW publishes a service animal relief area map on their accessibility page. Always check at each attraction — not all rides permit service animals in the ride vehicle/restraint area due to safety constraints.
Medical & Dietary Accommodations
Disney is exceptionally well-equipped for guests with medical needs and dietary restrictions — registered nurses at First Aid, medication refrigeration, and a world-class allergy accommodation process that can be arranged well before you arrive.
Medical Services
Every Disney park has a First Aid station staffed by registered nurses (RNs). Services include: medication administration and storage, refrigeration for insulin and temperature-sensitive medications (at no cost), basic first aid, blood pressure checks, oxygen, sharps disposal, and private rest area. Bring pharmacy labels or a physician letter for controlled substances.
Magic Kingdom: Near Crystal Palace on Main Street
EPCOT: Near the main entrance
Hollywood Studios: Near the park entrance (left side)
Animal Kingdom: Near the main entrance
All locations are staffed throughout park operating hours.
Urgent care clinic at Disney Springs Town Center. Phone: (407) 939-7480. Walk-in hours available. Also provides house calls to Disney resort hotel rooms — ideal for guests who can't transport easily. This is the closest full-service urgent care to all four WDW parks.
AED (automated defibrillators) placed throughout all parks. Oxygen available at First Aid. All parks have accessible restrooms with adult and child changing tables. Disney allows guests to bring their own medical equipment including CPAP machines, portable oxygen concentrators, and similar devices.
Special Dietary Accommodations
Email Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com at least 14–30 days before your visit. Disney's culinary team will respond with pre-screened options across all restaurants for your specific allergy or dietary need. Handles all top 9 allergens (gluten, dairy, egg, peanut, tree nut, fish, shellfish, soy, sesame) plus others.
Quick service: Ask to speak with a manager or chef — they'll bring allergy-specific options from a dedicated prep area. Table service: Note allergies on your reservation; confirm with server on day — a chef will often visit your table. Character dining: Same process — inform in advance and confirm day-of.
WDW has dramatically expanded plant-based options across 2023–2025. Dedicated plant-based items are marked on all quick service menus. Table service restaurants offer plant-based alternatives for most dishes on request. No need to contact Special Diets for plant-based only — options are clearly labeled throughout.
Disney Cruise Line handles dietary accommodations through the ship's dining team. Submit requests through DCL's online pre-booking system or via Special Services. Kosher meals: Available by advance request at least 30 days before sailing. Gluten-free and allergy accommodation is handled extensively by ship chefs — inform the dining team at embarkation.
DLP follows EU allergen labeling laws (14 mandatory allergens). Contact the dining team at +33 (0)1 60 30 40 50 or via the DLP website. Menus include allergen matrices. Most table service restaurants accommodate with advance notice. Halal and Kosher options available at select DLP restaurants with advance request.
Similar process to WDW — flag dietary needs when making dining reservations via Disneyland.com. Quick service manager process is identical to WDW. Chef visits at table service are available. Contact the Disneyland dining team directly for complex multi-allergen cases before your visit.
DCL Accessibility Deep Dive
Disney Cruise Line has no DAS equivalent — all accommodations flow through Special Services. With 12 months of advance planning and the right stateroom, DCL can be an extraordinary experience for guests with accessibility needs.
Launched December 2025, the Destiny offers 35 accessible staterooms — the most in the fleet. Features include roll-in showers, lowered sinks, visual alarm systems, high-fidelity induction hearing loops in the main theater, wider corridors, and adjustable bed heights. Book 12+ months in advance.
Contact Special Services when booking (not just 90 days out) to reserve accessible staterooms and submit accommodation requests. Request pool lift access, early boarding, accessible character meet-and-greet, dietary accommodations, and any medical equipment needs. All requests are documented before embarkation.
Opened 2024 at Lighthouse Point, Eleuthera, Bahamas. DCL's newest private island is the most accessible of their private destinations: beach wheelchair access mats in main zones, accessible pathways to pool, dining, and hammock areas. Not all natural beach terrain is accessible — soft sand zones remain.
Beach wheelchairs available at the attendant station — first-come basis. Access mats from the dock to beach areas. Accessible restrooms on island. Accessible snorkeling entry point available near the main beach. Some areas are sand-only and not fully accessible.
DCL ship theaters feature assistive listening systems. Newer ships (Wish, Treasure, Destiny) have induction hearing loops. Large-print and Braille menus available on request. Character meet-and-greets for guests who cannot stand in line can be arranged through Special Services — they create private or semi-private character experiences.
Service animals are permitted on all DCL ships and at all private island destinations. Relief areas are designated on each ship deck and on both islands. Notify Special Services when booking so they can indicate relief area locations and provide guidance for specific ports of call.
